Earthquakes in Turkiye and Syria 2023: PBV Emergency Relief Fund Launched

As widely reported in Japan and elsewhere, communities in Turkiye (formerly known as Turkey)  and Syria experienced very strong earthquakes on February 6. Extensive damage has been reported in both countries. More than a hundred aftershocks have been recorded as of February 7. Rescue efforts are still underway in snowy conditions. Peace Boat Disaster Relief (PBV) has been in touch with local NGOs and UN agencies to gather information on the damage and launched an emergency relief fund to support those in the affected communities. Peace Boat Disaster Relief (PBV) to launch medical relief project for wounded civilians from Ukraine

In cooperation with Hiroshima University in Japan, Tbilisi State Medical University and Ken Walker University in Georgia Medical Rehabilitation Clinic, and The First University Clinic in Georgia, PBV launches a medical relief project utilizing medical technology to help injured Ukrainian citizens including children. Project Update: 2022 Earthquake in Western Java, Indonesia

Upon the occurrence of the magnitude 5.6 earthquake in western Java, Indonesia on 21 November, Peace Boat Disaster Relief launched an emergency fund to support the humanitarian efforts by ASAR Humanity in Indonesia. According to the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) Indonesia, 7,700 people were injured due to falling structures and debris while 73,000 people were displaced, and about 62,000 housing units were partially or entirely damaged. Residents in Cianjur, where the damage was most extensive, have experienced a shortage of shelters, food, safe drinking water, and access to medical services. Emergency Relief Fund: 2022 Earthquake in Western Java, Indonesia

On 21 November 2022, at around 1:20 pm local time, an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.6 on the Richter scale occurred near Cianjur, West Java, Indonesia. As of the morning on 22 November, 162 people have been confirmed dead and approximately 700 injured. In addition, more than 2,700 houses and buildings, including schools, have been damaged. [Updates] Emergency Responses to the Ukrainian Crisis: Month 6

This August marks the sixth month since the initial invasion of Ukraine by the Russian military. Since the beginning of the humanitarian crisis, Peace Boat Disaster Relief (PBV) has been working with partner NGOs based in Romania to provide humanitarian assistance within Ukraine and to those who were forced to flee their country. All for Ukraine: Street Fundraising Campaign Launched!

Peace Boat Disaster Relief (PBV) set up an emergency relief fund last week to support those affected by the war in Ukraine. Together with NGO Peace Boat, we have started a fundraising campaign for a Romania-based NGO, Peace Action Training and Research Institute of Romania (PATRIR), which has been tirelessly providing support to refugees from Ukraine and coordinating humanitarian assistance in Romania since the beginning of the crisis. On February 24, 2022, the Russian military invasion of Ukraine began, and military attacks by missiles and other weapons have been carried out in several cities in Ukraine. Many civilians, including children, have been killed.
