Webinar: Ishikawa Noto Earthquake – Six Months On

Almost six months have passed since the earthquake in the Noto region in Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan. Immediately after the earthquake, Peace Boat Disaster Relief (PBV) dispatched its members to the affected communities and has been carrying out diverse projects to support the residents in Wajima and Suzu, on the Noto Peninsula. Ishikawa Noto Earthquake Emergency Response: Interim Report Published

It’s been almost six months since the devastating earthquake in Ishikawa, Japan, which occurred on January 1st this year. Immediately after the earthquake, Peace Boat Disaster Relief (PBV) dispatched a field team and has been working tirelessly ever since to support the affected communities in Ishikawa. PBV’s Relief Efforts in Noto Continue: Public Bath Project

Wajima’s morning market, once a tourist attraction, was transformed by the fire and still looks painful even five months later.   As of May 28, 112 people were dead and 3 were missing in Wajima, and more than 14,000 houses were either completely or partially destroyed, left on the ground waiting to be demolished or cleared. Temporary housing has been built and evacuees have begun living in new places, but many of these residents do not know what to do with the houses and property left behind. PBV’s Relief Efforts in Noto Continue: Relief supply distribution center in Suzu

Almost five months have passed since the devastating earthquake in the Noto Peninsula, Ishikawa prefecture. Peace Boat Disaster Relief (PBV) dispatched the members immediately after the disaster and has been working in two teams on the ground since then. In Suzu, a city located in the northernmost part of the peninsula, the PBV team has been working closely with the local authorities to carry out diverse support activities to support the affected residents. International Solidarity in Times of Disaster: 16 Latin American and Caribbean Ambassadors in Japan Visit the Disaster-Affected Noto Peninsula

On March 19, 2024, 16 Ambassadors to Japan from countries of the Group of Latin America and the Caribbean (referred to as GRULAC) visited disaster-stricken areas of the Noto Peninsula in Ishikawa Prefecture, hosted by Peace Boat Disaster Relief (PBV).   This visit was realized through the strong determination of the Ambassadors to directly convey messages of solidarity along with relief supplies to the victims of the Noto earthquake, which occurred on January 1. 2 Months On: Continuing support for the Noto Peninsula, Ishikawa Prefecture

Two months have now passed since the January 1, 2024 earthquake which struck the Noto Peninsula in Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan. We convey our condolences to all those affected. Peace Boat Disaster Relief (PBV) entered the area immediately after the disaster, and has since been working together with local organisations, relevant agencies and relief groups to gather information and carry out relief activities.
