Emergency Relief Fund: 2022 Earthquake in Western Java, Indonesia
On 21 November 2022, at around 1:20 pm local time, an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.6 on the Richter scale occurred near Cianjur, West Java, Indonesia. As of the morning on 22 November, 162 people have been confirmed dead and approximately 700 injured. In addition, more than 2,700 houses and buildings, including schools, have been damaged. The full extent of the damage in the area is still unclear and the number of people affected and the number of affected cases is thought to increase in the coming days.
Considering the devastating situations in the affected communities, Peace Boat Disaster Relief Centre (PBV) has launched an emergency relief fund to provide emergency assistance to the affected communities through a local humanitarian NGO, ASAR Humanity in Indonesia. ASAR Humanity has been conducting damage assessments in the affected areas since immediately after the earthquake. At this stage, the most in-demand assistance includes foodstuffs such as pre-cooked and ready-to-eat meals, safe drinking water, medical services, hygiene products, evacuation tents, and bedding.
Your donation will be used to provide emergency assistance such as the distribution of food, drinking water, and daily necessities, and the provision of medical services, tailored to the needs of the local people. Please note that activities may be subject to
change as the full extent of the damage is still being assessed in the affected areas. There is a possibility that we add local partner organizations, depending on future local needs and the total amount of donations.
Your support and cooperation would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.
