Peace Boat has carried out disaster relief operations on 5 continents since 1995. In the wake of the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011, Peace Boat Disaster Relief (PBV; formerly Peace Boat Disaster Relief Volunteer Center) was established as a devoted, specialist organization to assist disaster- affected communities worldwide.
Great East Japan Earthquake & Tsunami
Since March 2011, PBV has supported communities affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake & Tsunami. To this day, we continue to work with local residents in the region’s long-term recovery.

Training communities to prepare and volunteers to respond to future disasters helps to save lives, livelihoods and assets. PBV is also actively involved with a number of networks to promote cross-sector cooperation in Disaster Risk Reduction.
