3rd UN WCDRR

Peace Boat is an Organizing Partner of the NGO Major Group for the 3rd United Nations World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (WCDRR).

The WCDRR will be held from 14 to 18 March 2015 in Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture, Japan. Several thousand participants are expected to gather under the theme of building the resilience of nations and communities to disasters to adopt a post-2015 framework for disaster risk reduction.

Organizing Partners are to facilitate the participation of the major group representatives throughout the 3rd WCDRR and its preparatory process, working in collaboration with other major group sectors’ representatives present at the World Conference.

Japan CSO Coalition for 2015 WCDRR (JCC2015)

JCC2015 is a network of CSOs working towards the 3rd UN World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction, to be held in Sendai in 2015.
The network works in close partnership with CSOs around the world to participate actively in the establishment of the Post-2015 Framework on Disaster Risk Reduction (HFA2), aims to build strong and resilient communities, and aims to share Japanese CSO’s experiences and lessons learnt with the international community.
Global Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction for Civil Society
Global Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction for Civil SocietyPeace Boat, as part of JCC2015, is organizing the Global Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction for Civil Society, the biggest civil society event in the thematic pavilion of “Civil Society Collaboration and DRR” as part of the public forum of the WCDRR.

The main event will take place on 17th March, consisting of the main symposium and entertainment such as traditional art performances from the disaster-affected Tohoku region in north-eastern Japan.

Japanese and international guest speakers (Japanese- English Interpretation available) will share lessons learnt, experiences and expertise from across the world.
