New Year’s Greetings 2020
Thank you for your continued support to the PBV!
The year 2019 was, again, a year with devastating disasters around the globe. In mid-March, the powerful cyclone, Idai, struck southern African countries and caused severe damage in Mozambique. In summer, unprecedented heavy rains flooded Northern Kyushu in Japan, followed by typhoons No. 15 and No. 19 in Eastern Japan. While we engage in relief activities in the damaged areas, we are concerned about the scale and frequency of the storm-related disasters we have witnessed in recent years. The damage caused by disasters have been scaled up recently, and we feel the necessity to diversify our expertise and activities based on the experience we accumulated during past relief efforts.
As we previously announced, we have renamed our organization from “Peace Boat Disaster Relief Volunteer Center” to “Peace Boat Disaster Relief” as of October 1st, 2019. We value and appreciate connecting and networking with our supporters and volunteers. We would like to express our heart-felt gratitude for your support. Thank you very much!
We will continue working as one team to support those affected by the disasters and making efforts for disaster risk reduction. We seek your continued support this year again. We hope this new year brings you joy and happiness.
