Heavy Rain Disaster in Northern Japan Emergency Relief Fund

Record-breaking heavy rainfall since July 25, 2024 has caused landslides, floor flooding, and other damage in Yamagata and Akita prefectures in Japan. More than five levees along rivers flowing through Yamagata and Akita prefectures were breached, and approximately 1,000 houses were reportedly flooded in both prefectures. The number of damaged houses is likely to increase as the situation becomes clearer.

The Peace Boat Disaster Relief(PBV) dispatched two staff members to the area on July 28 to investigate the damage situation and assistance needed, and will conduct relief activities according to local needs.

Your donations will be carefully used for emergency relief activities, rebuilding lives, and rebuilding communities according to the needs of the affected areas. Please note that the full extent of the damage is still being assessed in the affected areas, and activities may be subject to change depending on the situation.

We seek your generous cooperation to help those in the affected communities.
