Practical Training and Exchange with Doctors in Fukuyama City

The second training session was held on April 3rd at a hospital in Fukuyama City that specializes in patients with brain stroke. The hospital offers a wide range of rehabilitation services that patients need for full recovery and restart their independent daily lives. One brain stroke patient volunteered to cooperate with the project, and Dr. Koloshynska had the opportunity to analyze the patient’s condition

and discuss it with the physical therapist at the hospital to select the most suitable rehabilitation mode for the patient. She also observed how RE-Gait is integrated into the rehabilitation program, as well as other facilities the hospital offers. The patient also shared his experience with the use of RE-Gait after using it for the last two years. Indeed, the training provided the doctor with valuable knowledge and experience through learning from both the physical therapist and the patient.

After the session, Dr. Koloshynska met with the hospital executive staff members to share details about the UNBROKEN project and her work in Ukraine. Following her presentation, the hospital members expressed their willingness to support patients in Ukraine and hoped the training would improve their conditions. PBV staff member Sofiia also joined the doctor to answer questions about the situation in Ukraine today.

Despite the limited time, the training was very informative and insightful, and it also served as an opportunity for the hospital members to meet and talk with Ukrainian people directly. The PBV team would like to express heartfelt gratitude to the hospital members who offered this valuable opportunity for the project.

The two-day training program was completed successfully thanks to the hospitals and all the parties involved in the project. We are hopeful that what Dr. Koloshynska learned in Japan will bring hope to many patients in Ukraine to regain normal walking functions in the future.
