Peace Boat Disaster Relief Publishes Its Annual Report 2024

Peace Boat Disaster Relief (PBV) is pleased to announce the publication of its Annual Report for the period from April 2024 to March 2025, summarizing a year of extensive disaster response, recovery support, and preparedness activities in Japan and overseas.

Throughout the year, PBV worked alongside local communities, volunteers, partner organizations, and donors to respond to complex and overlapping crises. In total, 117,788 volunteers and staff participated in PBV’s activities, supporting disaster-affected communities through emergency relief, shelter operations, livelihood recovery, and long-term resilience-building initiatives.

In Japan, PBV continued large-scale support following the Noto Peninsula Earthquake and subsequent heavy rains in Ishikawa Prefecture, providing shelter management support, material assistance, meal services, bathing facilities, volunteer coordination, and individualized disaster case management. PBV also responded to heavy rain disasters in Yamagata and Akita Prefectures, while continuing disaster preparedness training and education nationwide.

Internationally, PBV marked its third year of humanitarian support for Ukraine, including the launch of the Ukraine Rehabilitation Support Project in cooperation with medical partners in Lviv and the donation of Japanese rehabilitation technology. PBV also carried out disaster relief and recovery activities in Türkiye, Syria, Chile, Taiwan, Indonesia, and the Philippines, working closely with trusted local partners.

Beyond emergency response, PBV continued to transform field experience into future preparedness through disaster prevention education, volunteer training, and community-based initiatives during non-disaster periods.

We invite you to read the full report to learn more about PBV’s activities, achievements, and lessons from the field HERE.

PBV extends its sincere gratitude to all volunteers, partners, and donors whose continued support made these activities possible.
