Learning Journey for the Children from Fukushima
PBV hosted a visit by children from Fukushima Prefecture where was affected by the earthquake and the nuclear power plant accident in 2011.
The children visited houses that were destroyed by the earthquake, schools that served as evacuation centers and temporary housing, and toured bathing facilities operated by PBV.
This visit was part of a cruise ship project conducted by the NGO Peace Boat, and the children visited the Noto Peninsula by ship during their summer vacation.
For children living in Fukushima, this visit provided an opportunity to think about recovery from natural disasters and building sustainable communities.
