PBV Marks Its 15th Anniversary

Today, April 19, Peace Boat Disaster Relief (PBV) marks its 15th anniversary.

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has supported our work over the years: our volunteers, donors, corporate and organizational partners, members of our networks, local residents in disaster-affected areas, government officials, and social welfare councils.

PBV was founded in 2011, the year of the Great East Japan Earthquake, and since then we have continued our work guided by the belief; “It takes people to support people”

Over these 15 years, we have witnessed countless examples of the natural chain of people helping one another. No matter how much systems and technology evolve, it is ultimately people who can stand beside those facing hardship and provide direct support. This conviction remains at the heart of everything we do.

At our 15th Anniversary Event held on April 5, approximately 700 people joined us, and we also received many messages from those who were unable to attend. Once again, we were reminded that our work has been made possible by the support and trust of so many people.

Building on the experience of the past 15 years, we will continue to strengthen not only rapid emergency relief immediately after disasters and medium- to long-term recovery support, but also the development of disaster response personnel, the sharing of knowledge and expertise, and the improvement of specialized support and network-building to enhance evacuation life.

To create a society where everyone can help one another, even in difficult times, we will further promote the development of systems and structures in times of peace. We are committed to translating the experience and lessons gained in disaster-affected communities into lasting social frameworks that benefit society as a whole.

For a more disaster-resilient society.
For a society where everyone can reach out a helping hand.

Together with all of you, we will continue to move forward and grow.
