Since November 2025, a wave of record-breaking floods has devastated Southeast Asia. Indonesia\u2019s Sumatra island has been among the hardest hit by catastrophic floods and landslides.<\/p>\n\n\n

As of January 23, 2026, the disaster in Sumatra has claimed approximately 1,200 lives, with 143 people still missing. More than 113,900 people have been displaced, and over 175,000 homes are reported damaged or destroyed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

PBV has been working closely with ASAR Humanity<\/a> to provide emergency assistance to affected communities in Ache and West Sumatra Provinces.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With financial support from the Japan Platform (JPF)<\/a>, we are expanding our assistance from Aceh and West Sumatra provinces to North Sumatra Province, where food and relief item distributions began on January 20.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Starting on January 27, we began distributing 1,000 hot meals per day to affected residents at a site adjacent to an elementary school in Sipirok, North Sumatra. By the end of January, a total of 5,000 meals were provided.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We will continue to provide assistance while conducting ongoing needs assessments to respond to the evolving situation on the ground.<\/p>\n\n\n
