In Cebu, Philippines, many people are still facing difficult living conditions due to the earthquake that struck on September 30 and the typhoon that followed. PBV continues to carry out relief activities in close collaboration with local partners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Medellin, a municipality in northern Cebu, PBV worked together with local organizations Balay Mindanaw Foundation, Inc. (BMFI) <\/a>and Safe Water for Every Child Philippines<\/a> to install water purification systems.<\/p>\n\n\n

During a site visit by PBV staff in early December, a pump was installed as part of the repairs to the water facility. Clear water began flowing again by the next day, and the restoration has provided access to safe water for 417 households.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the second week of December, a water delivery initiative was launched in cooperation with the city\u2019s Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO). Large tanks filled with purified drinking water were loaded onto DRRMO vehicles and transported to communities where the water supply had not yet been restored. <\/p>\n\n\n

By the end of December, this initiative had delivered safe drinking water to 5,368 households. In addition, buckets were distributed as needed during water deliveries, reaching a total of 124 households.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, hygiene supplies and shelter repair kits have been distributed in Medellin, while water purification systems have been installed in Talisay City. PBV has also strengthened the response capacity of local partner organizations by providing protective equipment, including helmets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
