As widely reported in Japan and elsewhere, communities in Turkiye (formerly known as Turkey)\u00a0 and Syria experienced very strong earthquakes on February 6. Extensive damage has been reported in both countries. More than a hundred aftershocks have been recorded as of February 7. Rescue efforts are still underway in snowy conditions.<\/p>\n

Peace Boat Disaster Relief (PBV) has been in touch with local NGOs and UN agencies to gather information on the damage and launched an emergency relief fund to support those in the affected communities.<\/p>\n
