This year marks 10 years since the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami, and Peace Boat Disaster Relief (PBV) celebrates its 10th anniversary.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

While sending our sincere gratitude to all supporters and volunteers who have offered a\u00a0helping hand to those in need in disaster-struck areas in Japan and around the globe during the ten years, we are taking on a new challenge to take another step forward – a crowdfunding campaign targeted to raise five million yen by the end of March 2021. \"\"<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

During the past 10 years, PBV has served disaster-affected areas in 54 communities across Japan with help of more than 100,000 volunteers, including international volunteers. The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has posed enormous challenges to the humanitarian organizations including PBV, but we never give up supporting those in need of assistance for recovery as we believe people are the key to support people. Currently PBV members continue to provide both direct and logistics support in disaster affected communities, including Kumamoto (floods in 2020) and Chiba (typhoons in 2019) with close collaboration with the local residents, humanitarian agencies and public organizations involved.<\/div>\n

The funds raised through the campaign will make these possible:<\/div>\n
    \n
  1. Dispatch of personnel and provision of relief supplies to ensure safe and secure evacuation while taking thorough measures against infectious diseases,<\/li>\n
  2. Securing personnel who can support activities in the affected areas amid the COVID-19 pandemic with necessary preventive measures,<\/li>\n
  3. Logistics support to the local organizations and community leaders in the affected areas, and<\/li>\n
  4. Further development and promotion of disaster risk reduction education programs with the knowledge and know-how updated through the PBV’s emergency responses amid the pandemic.\"\"<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
