{"id":5694,"date":"2015-07-07T18:24:54","date_gmt":"2015-07-07T09:24:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pbv.or.jp\/en\/?p=5694"},"modified":"2020-07-16T10:22:13","modified_gmt":"2020-07-16T01:22:13","slug":"guatemala-peace-boat-hosts-the-1st-assembly-of-the-community-practitioners-platform-for-resilience","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pbv.or.jp\/en\/news\/guatemala-peace-boat-hosts-the-1st-assembly-of-the-community-practitioners-platform-for-resilience\/","title":{"rendered":"Guatemala: Peace Boat hosts the 1st Assembly of The Community Practitioners\u2019 Platform for Resilience"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5700\" src=\"http:\/\/pbv.or.jp\/wp_en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Guatemala-onboard-group-1.jpg\" alt=\"Guatemala-onboard-group (1)\" width=\"1242\" height=\"977\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pbv.or.jp\/wp_en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Guatemala-onboard-group-1.jpg 1242w, https:\/\/pbv.or.jp\/wp_en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Guatemala-onboard-group-1-300x236.jpg 300w, https:\/\/pbv.or.jp\/wp_en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Guatemala-onboard-group-1-1024x806.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1242px) 100vw, 1242px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>On 30<sup>th\u00a0<\/sup>June, Peace Boat hosted the <strong>&#8220;1<sup>st\u00a0<\/sup>Assembly of The Community Practitioners\u2019 Platform for Resilience&#8221;<\/strong> in Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala.<\/p>\n<p>In partnership with Fundaci\u00f3n Guatemala and Huairou Commision, Peace Boat welcomed\u00a0over\u00a030 representatives from Guatemala and El Salvador, all working in Disaster Risk Reduction and resilience building, onto Peace Boat&#8217;s passenger ship, the <em>Ocean Dream<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>These communities are plagued by similar disasters, but rarely do the community members themselves have the time and opportunity to gather and interact in this way.<\/p>\n<p>The one-day event brought together\u00a0leading figures from across the region, who were able to share experiences, lessons learnt and best practices with one another.<\/p>\n<p>Representatives from \u00a0the Municipality of Santa Tecla, El Salvador and the Municipal Fire Department were also in attendance.<\/p>\n<p>The participants were also able to meet several\u00a0<em>hibakusha <\/em>(atomic bomb survivors from Hiroshima and Nagasaki) who are onboard the ship as part of the &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/peaceboat.org\/english\/?page=view&amp;nr=83&amp;type=28&amp;menu=105\">8th\u00a0<span class=\"il\">Global<\/span> Voyage for a Nuclear-Free World: Peace Boat Hibakusha Project<\/a>&#8220;.
