{"id":4297,"date":"2013-12-11T08:50:27","date_gmt":"2013-12-10T23:50:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pbv.or.jp\/en\/?p=4297"},"modified":"2020-07-16T10:45:08","modified_gmt":"2020-07-16T01:45:08","slug":"4297","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pbv.or.jp\/en\/news\/4297\/","title":{"rendered":"Oshima Relief &#8211; Final Project Report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Typhoon #26 battered the Izu Islands, a chain of islands just south of Tokyo, on October 16<sup>th<\/sup>. Oshima Island was the hardest hit, where severe flooding and landslides left communities devastated in the wake of the typhoon. Unrelentingly, typhoons #27 and #28 also exacerbated the situation when they passed through the same area in quick concession.<\/p>\n<p>PBV commenced relief operations in Izu Oshima on October 30<sup>th<\/sup>, making it the 5<sup>th<\/sup> domestic relief project of this year for our organisation.<\/p>\n<p>The advanced team, consisting of 3 experienced members of staff, assessed damaged areas and established contact with local organisations such as the Social Welfare Council and other disaster relief groups working in the area.<\/p>\n<p>Working closely with the \u201cTokyo Disaster Volunteer Center\u201d, PBV coordinated 263 volunteer work days over the course of a month.
