Participants can create their visions of the future together with the local people while listening to their passions and plans to rebuild their community and businesses. On the first day of the programme, Mr Matsumura Gota from ISHINOMAKI 2.0 introduces participants to the town of Ishinomaki. He has proposed many ideas for the reconstruction of Ishinomaki, including \u201cFukko BAR (Recovery bar),\u201d &#8220;Comi Kame&#8221; and the \u201cIshinomaki Kobo&#8221; (Ishinomaki factory). Mr Matsumura leads participants on a walking tour to learn about the current situation  of Ishinomaki, titled the &#8221; \u201c 2.0 Excursion.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_3217\" style=\"width: 630px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3217\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3217\" title=\"02-s1\" src=\"http:\/\/pbv.or.jp\/wp_en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/02-s13.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"620\" height=\"377\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pbv.or.jp\/wp_en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/02-s13.jpg 620w, https:\/\/pbv.or.jp\/wp_en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/02-s13-300x182.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-3217\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Mr Matsumura Gota giving a walking tour  <\/p><\/div>\n<p>From afternoon to evening, as part of the programme entitled \u201cmeeting the town&#8217;s residents,\u201d participants visit different factories and shops which have either reopened or newly opened since the disaster, to hear the stories of the owners in small groups. One shop visited is &#8220;Yamagata-ya,&#8221; a long-established Miso and Soy Sauce shop which started in 1907.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3218\" title=\"03-s1\" src=\"http:\/\/pbv.or.jp\/wp_en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/03-s13.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"620\" height=\"827\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pbv.or.jp\/wp_en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/03-s13.jpg 620w, https:\/\/pbv.or.jp\/wp_en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/03-s13-224x300.jpg 224w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The brewery which had been passed down from generation to generation was hugely affected by the disaster, and the family thought about closing down. However, when they received requests from customers to purchase even their leftover products, they started to think that what they can, and should, do under the situation was to restart their business.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3219\" title=\"04-s1\" src=\"http:\/\/pbv.or.jp\/wp_en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/04-s14.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"620\" height=\"465\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pbv.or.jp\/wp_en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/04-s14.jpg 620w, https:\/\/pbv.or.jp\/wp_en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/04-s14-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Peace Boat volunteers helped the shop clean barrels of soy sauce and miso which were covered in mud. The factory is not yet recovered to the stage that they can produce their own products, but they have recovered their business step by step\u00a0in a new way, including selling products made at a different factory located inland, and opening a restaurant by renovating an old warehouse on their property.<\/p>\n<p>There are other new ideas like Marudaira Katsuobushi (bonito flakes), Ishinomaki Shimin Ichiba (People&#8217;s market), Machi Tsukuri Guild (Town Building Guild)\u201d and so on.
